Love Letters , a Pulitzer Prize for Drama nominated play, was written by A.R. Gurney and originally opened off-Broadway in March 1989, where it ran 64 performances. The play was performed only on Sunday and Monday evenings and changed its cast weekly. The play centers on just two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III.
